Slack

No excuses as to why it's taken so long... just gonna post some stuffs.

I made eight of these zines as a final portfolio for my writing class. They contained three short story/prose excerpts and four poems as well as some photos, and little drawings.

Close up of the cover image. Really simple but fun piece to draw up.

The other day I purchased Born Against's "Nine Patriotic Hymns for Children / Battle Hymns for the Race War" Which is personally one of my favorite albums ever. Gems like "Poland" "Mary and Child" and "Nine Years Later" are off this 18 track sucker. Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised to find the cover booklet contained page after page of great little drawings... Like these guys here

A Whole Lot of Nothing

I realize that aside from my darkroom work (I'll be posting some of my new prints soon) I haven't been very productive. But I'm not a total loss I promise.... for example

I drew this fella up last night. The photo isn't great, but you get the idea. It always feels good to just sit down and get something done.

Old Dog, New Tricks

Drew this up tonight... took me about an hour. Figure drawing is something a bit new to me, so this was tough

Gold Blooded Killer

Just finished this drawing today... the text says "gold blooded." I've kinda stopped drawing so it felt good just to sit down with paper and some pens and get something done.

A Few Bad Apples

This morning I spent four hours in the darkroom and ended up with two failed prints. They still look alright, especially the top one, but I'll make some new prints which with a bit of luck will be even better.

This one's got a crooked border and a black line up top where the easel wasn't properly aligned. I also might burn the top to give it a bit more exposure on the next go around.

This one is waaaaaay over exposed. I like the shot though so I'll just give it another go with less exposure next time. Probably ought to tweak the focus as well.
I've got a whole bunch of film developed at the moment so I see a busy few weeks ahead, it's an exciting prospect. I've also been doing a bit of drawing so expect another post soon with a few little pictures.

All in a Good Day's Work

Couple of photogram prints I made today. Not the best pictures of them but whatever whatever. I reek of  dektol from spending all morning in the darkroom...

Hooky Spooks

A few little drawings I've got in the works right now. I decided to give the hat wearing fella a real weird pastel color scheme, just to  mix things up. I'm going to make his face all ratty though.

The other guy is a drawing I'm doing for my dear sweet sister who is currently living in Scotland. You better believe that Glasgow is the reason!

Feels Like I Could Kill Tonight

Last night I went with Kai and Ynez to see The Kills play at the fox... It was an amazing show. They're new album "Blood Pressures" is great and they managed to play a lot of new material while still throwing in a lot of old favorites. I took a lot of photos, most of which aren't any good, and I'm posting decent number of them. So if you get board feel free to skip to the bottom and watch a couple of videos.

Two of my favorite tunes, "Future starts slow" and "Last Day of Magic."

Keeping On

I've got a couple of new projects in the works these days, but it's slow going because of other obligations (aka homework). But with any luck I'll have them finished soon.

I'm working on making my home a bit more homey and have started getting stuff up on the walls. It's still a bit bare so if you've got any postcards, photos, or artwork (especially if it's your own!) laying around send it my way! It's always appreciated!
On a side note Tattoo Age just released a new episode on Troy Denning... if you're board check it out... he's one crazy fellow! Also their previous episodes, both on Dan Santoro and Grime are great.

Keep it Stupid Stupid!

I had so much fun with the first little drawing that I decided to do some more. I'm really liking the simple, black and white designs. I'm trying to make them all a bit strange. Lots of eyeballs and arrows...

The hatchet design is not original but I've tweaked it a bit to make it more my own.

Precious Time

Couple of pieces I drew up today when I should have been doing other things. The colors on the rose and dagger are a bit wonky, it would have been better in watercolor. I really dig the eye/arrow/cloud tat design though.  It's weird.

On a side note, I managed to lose my i-pod in a perfectly clean room, which is a bit of a bummer.

The Basics (Bay-Sucks)

The Bay does not in fact suck, I love it. But what with school and all I've had less time to sit around drawing and painting and such... So There will probably be a lot less posts, not that it really matters to anyone. In the meantime check out them Barbarians....

New Roots

Got all moved in yesterday to my new abode in Berkeley. Drew this up after a quick walk around the neighborhood earlier this afternoon. It could have turned out much better but what can you do. Don't give up, give in.

Black Lung

Yesterday was one of the best days of the summer. Went out to Mare Island with my next of kins Izzy, Kai, and Katie, to poke around some of the abandoned buildings out there. It was amazing, we took lots of photos, jumped around, climbed through room after room of smashed, mildewy, decaying glory. There is something about old buildings that just can't be beat... though I'm sure my lungs are shot after all the asbestos I took in. Here are a few of the photos, just to give you an idea...

My new living room.

Flying leap.

Ugly as sin.
