A Little Loss of Focus

Today's inspirations. I need 'em, the ideas have been flowing a bit slow. But I'm thinking skulls and bones are the new ships and anchors.

Also I finished reading "The English Patient" which gave me a lot of ideas for my on writing. It didn't seem like my kind of book, but I really loved it an sped right through. Beautiful... Sad and beautiful.

Come and Go

Spent the last few days in Seaside visiting my grandpa and my great grandma. It was great to be next to the ocean, especially because of the whole nautical kick I've been on. Saw some ships, sand, sailors, shells, and sun fishes. Went to the aquarium, ate fish 'n' chips, and took a hike out at point lobos to Whaler's cove, where I took these pictures. All in all time well spent.

Some Take to the Sea, and Others She Takes

I'm working on a sheet of nautical designs... Here's a couple of the first ones, a lovely sea faring lady and a sinking ship. I've been reading up on sailor lore and it's given me a lot of ideas so I may end up having to do another sheet, but the more the merrier! I've also been toying around with simpler designs, like the boat, and bold colors, I plan on painting these tomorrow. The plain images almost give me more freedom and they can still pack a punch if you can do them right. I'm still figuring it out so any input/criticism/opinions on the matter are always appreciated.

Up and Coming

Got some new stuff in the works... who knows when my next chance to post will be (not that it matters). I've got a lot on my plate between canoe trips, placement exams, costal visits, work, and painting. But at least I'm busy.

Recharged

Close up of a trial run for a new collage. I don't like it much so it's back to the cutting board. But I got quite a few new ideas so hopefully tomorrow I can get some stuff done. Wishing myself luck.

ps. My soul goes out to the Norwegians... we all gotta hold fast in this crazy world

Frank Carter is a Hero

Seeing as Gallows played their last show tonight with Frank as their frontman I thought I'd be lame and make my second hero post on this dude. A great painter, singer, tattooer, and all around rager, preacher of the painful gospel, and very inspiring in his own way. I salute you sir (eventhoughI'mmadthatInevergottoseeyoulive!) Frank Carter is a hero.

Long Time Coming

I've been living a nomadic existence and enjoying the freedom. I made the pilgrimage down to Berkeley and spent a perfect weekend with my lovely sister, where I drew this picture. It's nearly done... I might put some text in, but I'm not sure.

Feathered Friends

Ilo and Kurjuus (Joy and Misery) birds finished! I could see this pair as hand tats... one on the left, one on the right.

New Post, Old Crap

Went through my big sketch book and found some old unfinished goblin boys. I intend to work on the hat wearing one and finish him up.

Lovely little sunburn I got today at work, my other arm looks the same. Fixin' for one marvelous farmer's tan.

Here We Go

Something new on the way....

Another lame blog post. Sorry. Things are still moving a bit slow lately since inspiration has left me high and dry.

The Daily Grind

Painted this one up just the other day which was a pretty good time. Today was pretty dead and I didn't get anything done at all. Hope that doesn't become a habit. Also the boys all finished up.... nothin' fancy.

Dead Beat, Dead Heat

I'm pretty sure that if such hellish temperatures persist I'll be dead before the month's out.... It's pretty hard to be happy/energetic/productive in this kind of heat.

Livin' It Up

I gotta a lot of new work going on and a few finished pieces but I haven't taken photos of them so I'll have to post them later. So for now a slightly older painting, but one of my favorites...
